Find a Grave
Use the Web to Find a Grave

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

Did you know that you can find a grave online? You can also view many cemeteries on the Web. Here's a roundup of just a few of the sites that I found:
  • FindaGrave: with millions of cemetery records, this site is a great resource.
  • Interment.net: cemeteries and cemetery records here, "a publisher of cemetery transcriptions for use by genealogists and local historians."
  • Arlington National Cemetery: Probably the most famous cemetery in the United States. and one of the oldest: "Arlington Mansion and 200 acres of ground immediately surrounding it were designated officially as a military cemetery June 15, 1864."
  • Cemetery Junction Directory: List of links to American, Canadian, Australian cemeteries and more.
  • National Cemeteries: browse VA national cemeteries by state.
  • The USGenWeb Tombstone Transcription Project: "The purpose of this project is to organize volunteers who will work together to create a lasting tribute to our ancestors."
  • Cemeteries and Funeral Homes: Exhaustive list of resources to find graves or cemeteries or cemetery records.
