What is Yurnet?
Yurnet is a search engine that could technically be considered a metasearch engine since it compiles results from several different search engines (find out more about meta search engines), but Yurnet has a couple of other interesting features that go along with its metasearch capability.How does Yurnet work?
You have a couple of different search options with Yurnet.First, there's the general search bar. Just enter in a term and away you go. Your results will come back in a general search results format, but you'll have the option (scroll down) to search in a variety of other search engines at this point. So, in effect, Yurnet is giving you a jumping off point to the Web here.
You can also use the drop-down menu for about 35 different baked in search queries, such as Indeed.com jobs, eBay items, Google images, etc. Combine that with your original search query (mine was "cheese") and you have an instantly customized result.
Lastly, Yurnet gives searchers the ability to search within up to three search engines and/or sites at once; and you get to choose these three from a pretty lengthy list of sources. For instance, my stand-by "cheese" query when placed into Ask.com, the BBC, and Yahoo brought back a new page with three individually framed results.
